Thanks all for the explanation.
I have more questions if you don't mind:

- The new HD formats (like the HDTV 1080 16/9 preset in XSI) do not have this aspect ratio problem, as far as what I've understood, it's square pixels for both TV and PC monitors, correct?

- I read the "PAL DVD" format has a pixel aspect ratio of 1.094. But a PAL DVD will be broadcasted on a PAL TV, so why is there a difference with the PAL standard's aspect ratio?

- Is the aspect ratio information contained into a TGA file, so that programs like ACDSEE will stretch the picture according to its aspect ratio?
