Actually it depends on the Set Key Command
Mapping.
In
either case, you do not have to branch-select, the command sets keys in the
selected object and its children.
If the
Set key Command Mapping is Set Key Using Marked Parameters, Set Branch Key sets
a key on the marking set in the branch. This is the legacy
behaviour.
If the
Command Mapping is Keyable or Marked Keyable, it sets key on all the keyable (or
marked and keyable) parameters in the branch.
