Actually it depends on the Set Key Command  Mapping.

In either case, you do not have to branch-select, the command sets keys in the selected object and its children.

 

If the Set key Command Mapping is Set Key Using Marked Parameters, Set Branch Key sets a key on the marking set in the branch.  This is the legacy behaviour.

 

If the Command Mapping is Keyable or Marked Keyable, it sets key on all the keyable (or marked and keyable) parameters in the branch.

This only works for objects with Marking Sets - it should read

 

Set Branch Key using Marking Set (as it does in the keyboard mapping)

 

So with any object selected it will traverse that branch and key based on the marking set parameters

This feels incredibly dumb, but can someone explain to me Set Branch Key.

 

I can't find any reference to it anywhere (including the SDK) and I try it and no command is logged...
