Why don't use the automatic file update? That works a treat for me.
Ctrl+S, Ctrl+tab to switch back to XSI, run script. More work, but at
least I get my colors and nice features.

For "standard" scripting, xsi script editor is the best for me.
Ok, there are no colors, no way to reduce functions display, but... the
"Run" button make all the difference ! :-)

I find external text editor useful only with self installing plugin.
You right click on a plugin in the Plugin Manager, choose edit to open it
in your favorite text editor, set some change then save
 and update the plugin manager.
A "reload pluggin on focus" in the preference would be cool like with
modified image clip. I set "Automatically reload externally modified
scripts" in the preference but it doesn't update when I switch between
Notepad++ and XSI. Did I miss something ?

Cheers
