As always I find the online resources really good. first go through
and find all the free tuts here. http://www.learningmaya.com/

Explorer = Outliner
Animation Editor = Graph Editor
Schematic = Hyper Graph
Render Tree = Hypershade

right mouse click with shift or ctrl pressed down gets you a lot of options.

After that... just pray and forget that you ever learned XSI... you
will only get frustrated how fast you would manage to do it in XSI
(unless you are doing fluids and particles).

best of luck

p.s. yes... I am in that dark place we call Maya land...

Hi Chaps & Chapesses,

If one had to, say for example, do a speedy course in Maya to get up to
speed on the basics, which course in the UK would one recommend?

Thanks,

Adam.

...no heckling from the back thanks!
