Now that things have drifted off to OT completely,
I fancy the MAC workstations alot, pretty sure they´ll
be DualQuadCore sooner or later, too. Almost silent,
lovely designed, capable of running XP and Linux or
things like FCP, Shake and such on native OSX, their
only limiting factor is the graphicscards options offered.
Would still like to have something like that. Add some
Cinema4D and you get a Bodypaint3D license (for PC).
Christmas.

P.S: Actually, I´m still dreaming. Won´t buy anything at all...

It´s interesting what it may bring, dozens of different
versions, all sorts of rating and licensing system specs,
quite some extra CPU usage and a semitrans interface.
But I still don´t know wether Vista will actually support
more than two CPU sockets and more than 1.5 GB or
by luck even 3 GB RAM per process :- )
Well, I for one can't understand why a OS should need a accelerated
graphics card... and that for each version since NT4 windows has been
more and more bloated with stuff that you can't chose if you want to
install or not... and lets not forget the hole virus, spyware
blabalblablabla.... which seems only to get worse.
Granted not everything works with Linux, but then again... we do
productions with it everyday so it can't be *that* bad. What I miss
the most is having something like Zbrush (my hopes is for mudbox on
linux) and a decent 3D paint program.
I too am dreaming of the new Xeon QuadCore's. But they are a bit
expensive at the moment. So I think I will settle with a "normal"
dualcore.
