thanks guys,
brain wasn't in gear. I had a feeling the fake version had been removed, but it would have been really handy on this job I'm doing!
It didn't take long to figure out the cache issue!

Hi All,
It used to be possible to fake motion blur on particles. I'm sure there was a slider somewhere?
Is this not possible or am I just not seeing it?
Alternatively, is it possible to get regular motion blur to work on particles? I can't get that working either!
