We ended up getting unfold3d. At first I had issues with the price, but we
needed something and it seemed to be the best tool for the job. It paid for
it self the first week we had it. If I could have its functionality in XSI I
would be a happy man!

blender is OpenSource, just download and try it out... or rather "try
and get passed the UI to actually work".

Though, I would love to see something like this for xsi. It looked
really fast too and intuitive, Headus UV does a good job, but this one
seemed even better.
