Deadline doesn't work with the usual client-server model like most other
rendermanagement softwares do. It relies on a shared folder called
"\\server_ip\DeadlineRepository\" which is a simple Windows / SMB
network share. There is no special server software running on this
computer (except for the built-in network share stuff of Windows of
course). All the "work" is done by the clients themselves: they check
this folder and get / submit their jobs there. We actually got Deadline
working with this DeadlineRepository folder on a Linux server with Samba!
As I said, I'm not a Windows admin, so I hope it is correct what I'm
telling you.
CU... Steffen.
