Peter,
Just to clarify, no one has said anything remotely critical about Affogato. In fact, the thread was inspired by Alan's very positive comments.
Another thing to keep in mind. There is a very fine line between criticising the XSI SDK in public and criticising the people behind it. We have all been critical of XSI from time to time, but we are also mindful to keep those discussions within the bounds of this forum. The people behind XSI have given much of themselves towards the app, including the SDK, and regard it as their baby. It would be naïve to suggest that posting a comment that disparages the XSI SDK as the worst of it's kind in the 3D world (on an a public web site), would not invoke some equally emotive responses.
Raf himself has told us that Moritz enjoys heightening the debate, so I suspect the guy has a thicker skin than you give him credit for.
Raf also makes a very good point however. Moritz's contribution (via Affogato) will be far more significant to Softimage than any comment he might have made.
I for one am enormously appreciative of his willingness to share this tool with the XSI community.

for what it's worth:
Raf, I totally agree with your reaction to the way people were talking about
Moritz, behind his back on this list.
First off, he didnt utter them on here, and even if he has very strong,
exagerated or downright crazy opinions, it shouldnt be discussed on a
personal level here without his presence. (and who knows, he might just be
right?)
Most of the pro's I've encountered have strong opinions, and I consider
myself no exception.
If anyone wants to discuss Affogato on this list, and bash or praise it,
that sounds perfectly on topic, but since it's not public (yet?) nothing
senseless can be said here, except reactions from RSP people that have seen
and used it firsthand.
So lets keep the noise down and get back on topic:
did anyone use XSIMAN with success, in production or otherwise?
there's almost no mention about it on this list other than it exists.
And I'm sure plenty of people are very curious...
