does hitting F5 update it?
this behaviour has been more and more common since v4, on windows.
dunno bout linux.
its not exclusive to dual monitor layouts.
usually, once it gets to this point, you find yourself hitting F5 for every
single thing you do until you restart XSI.

Dual layouts on linux can cause this (at least from what I remember).
I bet it doesn't happen if you switch over to a "normal" layout.
