thanks a ton peter! that really helps a lot. i never thought about
neon light as being a problem ha. luckily i dont like them and we have
only indirect light, mostly halogen here.

so far i had good experience with two displays at different resolution
(way back when i had the 21" together with a 17" one). the nvidia
drivers support that really nice, because they dont span the whole
desktop over two screens. each one is controled alone with its
resolution, colour depht and refresh.

i try to check the apple one out here in town.
