I use two Dells at work. A 20" that's a couple of years old and a 17".
I have to say that I can't work without the dual setup anymore. I'm
spoiled. I set the resolutions to appear as similar as possible as set
up custom curves with nVidia's tools to match the colors. For an
animator, it's great. A whole screen for mixers, curves, explorers,
etc. For tools dev its great too. Scene assemblers still prefer the
CRTs for color accuracy and depth. Rightly so. The Dells are very
sharp, but very contrasty and not at all subtle with color variations.
The banding can get quite ugly. However, one of our scene assemblers
recently got a new 24" Dell for home and he says that it actually looks
quite good. Refresh hasn't been a problem for me and the angle doesn't
have a huge effect on color like it does on my old laptop.
If you are doing lighting or painting, you should definitely check one
out in person before buying. Otherwise, I love them.

sorry for the off topic but i hope somebody can share some their
experiences.
my old rusty iiyama 21" just died. i got two of them and working on
one screen is like working with only one hand.
i was thinking since long about new flat screens but never convinced
myself to buy one so far.
now i am forced and still undecided what to buy and whats right and
what not.
i would like to replace the dead screen with one widescreen that is
capable of displaying HD footage. i checked on the Dell Ultrasharp
2407WFP which sounds like a good deal. but it have 16ms refresh time.
on the other hand i looked at the Eizo S2410W which has the same
numbers on paper but got 8ms refresh. but as far as i can see its
400Euro more expensive which is a lot for me right now.
do you guys work in xsi with flat screens, what are your oppinions?
its important to have that very low refresh rate? do the colours still
change when you change the angle when you look at the screen?
anybody actually work with these mentioned screens? preferences? are
4:3 screens better suited for xsi layouts...
sigh..
ciao
