I run a 30" apple at home and a 24" dell + some crappy 18" viewsonic at
work. The Apple (imo) is bar none better than the dell. I'm not even
talking about the resolution, just the image quality, crispness and
color is just plain out better than any other monitor I've seen. I
personally like having one 30" over two 24's. You don't have 'quite'
the real estate but you still gain real estate around whatever you're
working on. For eg. if you are working on 1080p material... you can
have it at 100% res in After Effects and still have a full interface
around it. And you should see how much detail is visible in a 3D
viewport when maximized. In my experience having two monitors is nice
but the bugs/quirks drive me nuts.

fyi, the dell's auto calibrate constantly just for no reason. Your
screensaver will kick on and when you get back to your computer and
wiggle the mouse... it auto calibrates and 80% of the time it just
messes it up and looks all blurry. I've found that if you have a 3D app
open with some wireframe geo visible in the viewport it helps the
calibration to line up properly. I will never spend my own money on a
Dell after having used a few.

Whats better, 2 LCDs 24" or one 30"?
