I've already said in a previous thread that I think bump mapping in XSI is a sad state of affairs and outline how it could be fixed *properly* but it would cost some development effort. That personal opinion got latched on as some kind of an official statement from Soft and so I'm not walking into that particular bear trap again.

Ok, now how do you make it work using a texture generator node? Or for a 3rd
party shader that doesn't have that 'enable bump' toggle on it?
