Well - it's better than no linux version, and I'd place a wine app as
better than a mainwin app - even if it's just for it's support of an
open source project.
Plus it's being used only for gui components - I believe you rely much
more fundamentally on mainwin than for gui support. I don't know the
deal you have with mainwin, but I'd be surprized to find they give you
anything more than a binary dump. If this is the case then from a
development perspective it's once again an inferior choice to wine
because you're reliant on a 3rd party to fix bugs that prevent some
types of functionality in your software.
I don't particularly care whether you speak as Softimage or not, but
you are a representative regardless of how you try spin it. If you
truly feel using an implementation of the windows libraries provides
an inferior experience, as you've inferred, then I'd appreciate your
pushing harder internally to get XSI transferred from mainwin to a
crossplatform framework such as Qt. On the other hand if you don't
feel that is the case then making negative statements towards another
company which uses a similar approach to that of the company you work
for is simply foolish and achieves no end.
Cheers,
Alan.

Well given your previous comments about MainWin, I didn't think you'd
would be getting excited about fusion on linux knowing that it's made with
WineLib and not really written as a X Windows application.
Btw I made a comment, "a company" did not make a comment. It seems that
you're the only one who keeps having a problem making the difference.

I can't imagine a company using mainwin to run a windows application
on linux could view that as detracting from the application. Or did I
miss the point?
Cheers,
Alan.
