Render region no longer redners for animation captures in XSI 6

Is there some reason the render region no longer renders when you do a 
Start Capture? Now all I get is the frame. The contents of the render 
region are not rendered.

This is a feature used every day, by most XSI users (am I wrong)? Is there 
somoe way to regain the old behavior?

This is a MAJOR step backwards, and will cause a big drop in productivity.
