Speaking of re-writes, the default shadow pass still doesn't render subdivided objects correctly. It still shows polygonal artifacts on smooth contours. I don't think has ever worked correctly since we've been using XSI (4.2). Still a fantastic update.

I hope this script pastes ok:

GetPresetModel "Man_Face", "Man_Face", , "Face_Maker"
SelectObj "Man_Face.Basic_Face", , True
IncreaseSubdivision
IncreaseSubdivision
SelectObj "Camera"
Translate , -1.6, 0, -16.75, siRelative, siView, siObj, siXYZ, , , , , , , , , , 0
SelectObj "Camera_Interest"
ToggleVisibility
Translate , 0, 1.5, 0, siRelative, siView, siObj, siXYZ, , , , , , , , , , 0
SetValue "light.light.soft_light.shadow", True
SetValue "light.light.soft_light.factor", 0
CreatePass "C:\Softimage\XSI_6.0\Data\DSPresets\Groups\Shadow_Pass.Preset", "Shadow"
SetValue "Passes.Shadow.Background_Objects_Partition.Shadow_Shaders.Shadow.shadowvisible",True

Ah! glorious food coma.
We are aware of it and we will be fixing it. The rendering core got a complete rewrite from the ground up and so there were hundreds of new issues to sift through and fix before release. Unfortunately this is one of the items that got left behind in that mad dash. I believe most of the old bugs are gone but you get all new ones instead :)

Yeah, just look at us sad geeks! No more than 2 hours after gorging on turkey, the first thing we decide to do is check the list!
On a serious note.... yeah, this is biggie..... shame.
Otherwise I'm loving how v6 handles. Feels....... nicer. Also, goddam! That new material manager rocks!
All the best people, hope you're having good a christmas!
