I should have been more clear. It appears I responded to the wrong piece of the thread (or misinterpretted what was being discussed).
I definitely have 6.0 Foundation licensed now (I upgraded my existing Foundation via the pre-order). I had some difficulties getting that done (I was using my 20 character registration code from my 4.2 to 5.0 upgrade, when I needed my original 18 character
4.2 code). Food for thought for those that upgraded from 4.2 Foundation to 5.0 and are now trying to license their pre-order 6.0.
The thing I have an issue with right now is I can't download the "The Artist's Guide to XSI". The other night, I could have downloaded it simply by logging in to the softimage site (wish I would have now). Now it redirects to a page that requires a "Softimage Customer ID". One piece of text on this page says "Perhaps you do not currently have a valid Softimage maintenance contract associated with your account?".
I don't have a maintenance contract, but I do have 6.0 licensed. My question becomes, is it required to have a maintenance contract just to download the "Artist Guide"? If so, I should have stayed up till 5AM downloading it :). If that is true though, I think it should be available thru the store as a separate purchase if they're concerned about bandwidth etc.
Thanks,
Kent Bowling

the other night I downloaded without having to log with my account, but I dont think it's meant to be that way.For your license you definitely have to go through your account, that keeps track of wether or not you are entitled to the upgrade and / or have maintenance.Mind that those are two seperate things: if you're under maintenance you're always entitled to the upgrade. If you're not it depends on when you bought your license and when the new version is out. When in doubt, or encounter difficulties, mail license(at)softimage.com .They are pretty serious about getting to the bottom of things as fast as possible.----- Original Message -----From: Kent BowlingSent: Tuesday, December 26, 2006 9:20 PMSubject: Re: Wow XSI 6 is out! It appears that I could have downloaded this the other night (started to, but cancelled the process since it was 3AM and I was making a drive for X-mas the next day). It now appears that downloading this is tied to a support contract (as opposed to just our login on the softimage site)? Is this by design, or is it still being worked on?I don't expect a quick answer or resolution due to the holidays, I'd just like to know if I'm going to be able to download these at some point. Thanks,KentPS> If we can't download them, will there at some point be a purchase option? I noticed that all of the DVD's etc. available at the store are still the 5.x versions.

Same here. The rendering option really feel STRANGE! I think this is the
first major change in this area since I got into XSI (then 2.0) at film
school...
Cheers, Dave
PS: To you softimage folks: the training-dvd download seems to be
broken, at least for me. i try to d/l, first it asks me to login, then
nothing happens when i click on the link... this happens using firefox,
if thats an issue...
