Particle Instance to RBDs?

Subject : Particle Instance to RBDs?
Hi List,

Let's say I need to shoot out 3000 pink horses out of a hose, and I need them to land in a pile as they would appear if that were to actually happen in real life, can I do this in XSI?  I was thinking particles instancing and then at some point converting the instanced objects to actual RBDs.  Has anyone got any info on doing something like this or have done it already?  Coulda swore I saw this done somewhere.
