I've played with 6 yesterday and I've got more crash than with 5.11 using render region.

On two crashes I've got a message telling me that Mental Ray was dead and that I should save my work. I was pretty happy to see this new message, thinking we can now use xsi even when mr crash but after I clic ok on the message box, xsi crashed ( and I couldn't save the scene with the message box open ).
On an other crash, xsi tell me that the scene was save but when I re-open xsi and choose to load the recovered scene, xsi close instantaneously...

Then I realised I forgot to set the mental ray memory limit in render region options.
Once fixed, no crash at all despite a lot of render region test for my new year card.

I agree it is a new rendering science ! After five minutes looking for how to copy render region options in the current pass I gave up and did it manually.
I can see the button in the new Renderer Options but it is grayed.

the rendermap was ok on disc but I had to kill XSI bruteforce.

otherwise it was a good experience.
mr3.5 looks really great , setting rendering options is now a very
complex science !!!

still some graphics glitches , just at the limit of being annoying  ... :(
