It might be not that simple, have seen that one as well last time I played with v6, and that particular scene works perfectly well in v5.11. My initial thought was that I might be doing something wrong with the shaderball setup. However, since then I had no time to further investigate.

    my xsi 6 suffers from lag and its DAM annoying. If i use xsi then
    open up an internet browser or open up  my computer etc. Basically
    any other program apart from xsi. Then go back to xsi it just sits
    there daydreaming for about 30 seconds before it realises i'm
    trying to use it. previous versions have never had this problem,
    on my ageing machine
