I’ve managed to get FBX into 6 with this plugin. But I do recall that hanging is a regular feature in both XSI and Maya when importing fbx.

I don't have access to Maya here unfortunately. I tried the v6 FBX plug-in and can't seem to get it working right. I can get it to install and then import my FBX file. It gets most of the way through and then hangs on the import. If I cancel, the camera and some geometry are there but not the animation. Also, when I restart XSI, the plug-in is not there. I have to reinstall after every restart. I was able to import the FBX into XSI 5.11 though and it seems to be working fine. I'll keep the list posted on my progress...

Those links are for an "early access" version of the plug-in that you can download and use "as is".

No new functionality is included. The plugin is a recompiled version of the 5.0 FBX plug-in.

*We are working on building a Linux version of the FBX plug-in.

I don't think the FBX plugin for 5 works for 6.  You will probably have to download the new one.

Softimage sent us these links when we were having similar problems with the plugin.  These updated plugins worked for us in 6.  Good luck.

I have a job where a Maya artist(v7 on a Mac) needs to send me  his camera move and a little geometry. It looks like they don't have a dotXSI export plugin for Mac on the Softimage site, so we're looking at either Collada or FBX. I  tried to install the  FBX addon in XSI 6.0 but it never shows up in the menu.  Does the 5.0 addon not work in 6?  Would I be better sticking to Collada or would FBX be the best for this situation?

Thanks for any insight...
