Well Viz or Max might still be best at the moment for pure architectural
stuff since you have a nice choice of some speedy render engines that do
pretty quick and realistic global illumination with minimal setup.
There's also a ton of resources and tools out there not to mention the
huge user base of folks creating architectural stuff. However, XSI can
do architectural stuff as well, just don't expect a robust tool set for
creating precision models since XSI is a bit more organic IMO. I
created architectural stuff with Soft3D and XSI for several years though
so I guess in the end, its whatever your most comfortable with.
As for the fluid stuff.....dare I mention Real Flow (ducks to avoid
being slapped or having cheap beer thrown at). Its probably the best
off the shelf fluid simulator out there if not the only one and "should"
(and thats a big should) work with XSI. Speaking of which....anyone see
that new RealFlow plugin for XSI that I thought was going to be released
last week? :-)

hi all,
have been inactive on this list for a while (due to my employer being
a non XSI shop, at the moment).
hope all is well!
i have a question from a friend of mine and would like some thoughts...
they are looking for architectural viz software, something not too
hard to make work, especially in the photorealistic rendering section.
i tending towards viz, but XSI may not be completely out of the
question... what else is there that i'm not aware of?
plus, to make things more fun, they want water sim, for fountains and
such. the water is rather important, and i can't think of any app that
supports water sims out of the box. any ideas on plugins/standalone
software that would integrate well with off the shelf 3d apps and
doesn't need an engineering degree to use?
cheers all! really appreciated!
