Or track the translation of only on XY axis. Imagebased "2D" tracker or such.
The Z axis, I might have to fake it with scaling and / or rotation.
I luv Boujou though, being able to track zoom / dolly / pan or all put together
and just wished XSI had something similar.

I´d like to add that there´s a need for single image tracking and camera reconstruction from such. To my knowledge only the http://www.photomodeler.com/
offers such functionality - e.g. if there is an imagesequence there´s ususally loads of tools ranging from freeware voodoo to Boujou that allow to create and export a final 3Dtrack w/camera to XSI but if it´s a single image to work from one is mostly stuck with manual fiddling and guestimating values and battling the 3D camera.
I don´t want to sound cocky but imho it would be useless to have "just another" 3Dtracker "copied" into the XSI interface instead of reworking the camera manipulation tools (as you also pointed out) to easily allow for changing aspectratios, focal lengths and the distances between object2camera independently from each other, e.g. not being restricted to ratios based on the imageratio and center.
And also being able to move the 3D camera in the direction/vector of it´s interest (in the direction it looks at) with _OR without changing the focallength and aspectratio would be desireable as this could mimik a "cropping" behaviour with free aspectration currently difficult to achieve.
Simple example, I track a 4000x5120 plate, take the camera and "crop in" at 1200x1600, render and the element fits correctly onto the large plate even thought the "crop/zoom" occured off-center.
