shader?
you can still use the 'light rig from image'
another alternative is to use ba_light_dome. http://www.binaryalchemy.de/index_dev.htm

Well its not super slow ;)
I don't use it that much.
But I just find is so handy that you can put an
environment in using an image file.
This can then be reflected in objects, like
XSI. But it also can light your scene without using FG or GI. SO
handy.
You can also say, "emit photons". So your
image lights your scene using GI.
Surely this is a Mental ray thing, so why has
maya got it, and has done for a while, but XSI hasn't?

Is it fast ?

Hi In
maya, you can emit light and photons from an enironment shader/texture
(IBL). Ive always wondered why you couldn't in XSI. I know in
xsi you can light a scene with an image using FG, but in maya
you dont need FG. I really miss this option in
xsi.
