You guys are forgetting something important, World of Warcraft doesn't run on linux, it does on a Mac, but then XSI doesn't. So, either games companies need to start doing more on linux, or XSI needs to get on the Mac. XSI and gaming are the 2 reasons I stay on PC for now. I love the idea of linux but can't go without After Effects and Photoshop on my machine.
For the games situation I assume (may be wrongly) that specialised machines like PS3/XBOX will deal with games while my laptop deals with the rest. Am I wrong?
Now, about Linux, you can run After Effecs and Photoshop under Linux via CrossOver, not sure how well the latest version is but I sure will give it a go soon.

It is your choice, but it is easy as it is easy to run windows as it is to run Linux, just get the right distribution.

No,you're not. But in practice it's not always easy, or for that matter
preferable, to take the Linux, or the Mac route.
