layout editing: setting view properties for schematic

Subject : layout editing: setting view properties for schematic

I am looking for a way to set the view properties of the schematic to "selection". I didnt see a way editing the layout interactively so i just mimicked the other view properties format in the XML and added the <properties> tag and a <scope> tag, but no dice.

anyone know of any other way?
