Unified dynamics system IS NOT vague nor a catchphrase.

Unified dynamics system means that different kind of simulations can interact with each other. Particles deforming cloth, rigid bodies affected by particles, rigid bodies affecting softbodies, and a number of other things that maya was partially doing already, and that nucleus seems to be doing more extensively.

Whether it will be good or not or if it will be on par with Houdini in terms of usability we don't know yet, but even sadder then people falling for this, is seeing people discounting everybody "falling for this" like if he's an idiot that has no understanding whatsoever of the principles of mechanics and design of simulation systems.

Unified dynamic system = several systems designed to have a consistant interface, able to interact with each other, and operated through widgets and parameters that will operate sensibly across the board, possibly relating to values that don't go out of the scale of what can be dysplayed in the GUI.

Sure, there is marketing hype plastered all over it, but it's not just that.
Giving stuff fancy names like "metanurbs" or even "gator" or "motor" is name empowering marketing, and it's fine, but lets not play double standards if a company nobody likes uses in a fitting way something that's been called that way for a long time. What's next otherwise? Arguing whether something can be called fluid only if it's particles based or voxel based?

I'm starting to get a bit concerned by the number of anti positions, and respective favorable positions, I see emerging everyday. I'd be happier to see people in charge of fundamental design decisions to be a lil bit more open-minded and curious then this, or at least not discounting everything that's not in their field of likes as marketing idiocy.

That's pretty much the message that Autodesk marketing
want to burn into your brain; the idea that there
is something magical called 'nucleus' and that somehow
any other solution is inconceivable and cannot work
as well. I'm sorry to read that people are so easily
falling for this. It looks like the phrase 'unified dynamics
system' is vague enough that people will make it to mean
anything they fantasize about, but it's really just that:
a catch phrase, a dream catcher.

problem is "Gerard at Syflex" isnt in a position to do this.
a unified dynamics system isnt going to result from a plugin
    developers
work, it will require far greater integration into the core of xsi.
as it stands syflex is a great system, but its integration is
    tenuous at
    best.
i cant recall the last time i typed 0.00001 as a reasonable value for
anything in xsi, it doesnt even recognize default xsi forces.

i dont think its wise to rely to heavily on a plugin developer for
    such
    fundimental functionality.
by fundamental functionality, i mean a unified dynamics system; syflex
has served it purpose as a standalone cloth sim well.
