If you look at the "View Attributes" page in the SDK doc you will find all the attributes that each view supports.  Unfortunately the SchematicView doesn't support any.  You should log a suggestion to have the one(s) you want added.
 
As a workaround you could use the XSI Explorer with the left-hand explorer set to Selection and the right-hand viewer set to the Schematic.

I am looking for a way to set the view properties of the schematic to "selection". I didnt see a way editing the layout interactively so i just mimicked the other view properties format in the XML and added the <properties> tag and a <scope> tag, but no dice.

anyone know of any other way?
