Thanks guys for the quick response - I will give Helges tool a spin. A bit depressing to learn again and again that other apps interface with the two Autodesk Ms and not our beloved XSI...

but it crashes when outputting a reasonable amount of frames (1800 in this case)

It may not be too hard to work something up yourself to write ascii data to a file (you may need to work out the angle/fov stuff yourself) with it being ascii and all.
