Animation Layers and Clips in XSI 6

Subject : Animation Layers and Clips in XSI 6

I seem to recall something about being able to use Animation Layers to
animate over the top of actions clips in the Mixer.

I just tried this and it does not appear to be the case.  Can anyone
confirm this or is there something I need to check to enable this
feature?
