Afternoon all, after all the talk about reset actor last week, I did some digging around, to see if there were any inconsistencies in static kinestate properties and the Global Transforms of the deformers themselves.
Everything looks solid, aside from the fact that I find the static kinestate on rare occasions tends to round up or down the values it holds.
ie. -18.306 becomes -18.310 in the static kinestate.. minor issue.
The one issue I did find though, that I hadn't really noticed before is when using
envelope > remove deformers vs simply removing an envelope.
removing an envelope toasts the static kinestate property which you would expect if an object is no longer used as a deformer. rebuild the envelope, the static kinestate returns with the new global transform stored.
if you use envelope > remove deformers, the static kinestate does not disappear from the deformer. It sticks around holding the original global transform in the kinestate. It doesn't seem to cause problems if the deformer is moved to a new location and added back into the envelope, it updates the kinestate with the new global transform values.
I guess my question is, is there any reason why the kinestate hangs around even after the object has been removed from an envelope. Is this an oversight?
My second question has to do with applying actions. Like many of you from the reset actor post, I like to store actions for ALL pieces involved in a rig regardless of whether they are deformers or not. The problem in this case is for actions that consist of thousands of items. I find apply action starts to choke on action sources that are over say 1500 items.
the solution is usually to run the action a couple of times, and things eventually move back into place, but I wonder why? Shouldn't the apply action just read the file line by line and execute? I guess it could be an ordering issue, where something in the list needs to be reset before something else. In that event, I would just write out the source to a preset, edit the order and reimport it. But, barring that, how do you people deal with this?
Thoughts, comments, very welcome
