Subject : user prefs on load
I'm wondering if any of you have experienced this.

One of the colleges I lecture at has this problem with user preferences not getting loaded when users log in. Instead they get a fresh instlal of XSI. This is for the entire lab, I've resorted to packaging addons and loading them each and every time, but can't to get to the bottom of this.

XSI is installed locally on c:
user prefs, plugins are stored on the network. (h:)

Each time someone logs off the machine, their user prefs are stored in the proper location, but the next time they logon to a machine, xsi sees them as new users and fails to load the uer prefs.

It's not the setenv.bat, the paths are fine there.

The colleges network runs deep freeze every night that reimages the machines every night, but that should be Ok, if the user prefs are all stored somewhere else on the network.. Is there perhaps a file thats generated in the softimage install directory that loads user prefs on opening xsi? That might explain this behavior...Is there any way around this issue.

We're also running Netware, which has my spidey senses tingling a bit. I seem to remember problems with Netware..

The network at the college is pretty monolithic, Ideally I'd like to have our digital program on its own network, but I don't see that happening anytime soon.

Any suggestions on where I could start looking for more answers?

Adam
