This just makes me wonder though how long till we are doing film effects, commercials, etc. in real-time. I know it sounds a bit crazy sometimes to think of that now but I can totally see everything being done in a "game engine" in the future. Of course it won't even be called "game engines" anymore since it won't apply to just games. Anyway, I hope XSI or whatever it might become is at the cutting edge when it happens! I can see the stories I'll tell my kids and grandkids: "We used to 'render' our graphics on huge farms of computers back in my day."

its always feels like rt rendering is just around the corner.... but
then again it has been like that for years now without anything

could this make it?

found this news on their web site

"Geomerics has been awarded Solution Partner status by CAD software
Solidworks. Over time we will be bringing a range of new technologies
to the Solidworks platform. These will include our revolutionary
Enlighten technology, which provides real-time global illumination and
radiosity lighting under dynamic lighting conditions."

i was just watching that, makes me sad when a ggame engine can produce

and MR takes all day, and it still doesn't look as good
