I compiled a new version of my point caching tools for XSI 6.
You can download the stable beta here: http://www.kai-wolter.com/ext/KP_PointCacheToolsV2_beta.xsiaddon
After installation, you can access the point cache manager gui by clicking on the import/export button in the Animate toolbar.
In the record tab, add your object(s) to the point cache list (select and click add selection), set start and end frame and optionally the sample rate.
Under file settings set a prefix and where you want to store the file(s). Now click record.
To reapply the motion, go to the read tab, open the .pci file (it is named: "prefix".pci and contains information about the recorded caches).
Click open (the names of the objects a point cache was recorded for should show up in the left list and the matching objects in the scene show up in the right one). Finally set the construction mode (combo box at the bottom center of the dialog) to e.g. "secondary shape" and make sure "mute ops below" is checked. Now when you hit apply, the transforms are reset, all your operators are muted and a KP_PointCache operator, on the top of the stack, reapplies the motions.
Good luck, Kai
P.S.: If you have installed the old version, remove the KP_Tools, KP_PointCacheManager (Plugin) and the old SPDL based KP_PointCache operator before you install the new add-on (it contains all 3 plugins)

Thanks for the quick reply Bradley....however, it seems like I'm now worst case scenario mode..

I ran into the same issues on my last job. It happens when you have a lot of dependent operators on the stack, and your data result is read into the cache before the entire op stack is updated on the object.
Make sure that XSI is set to the highest work mode before running the shape plot. If that doesn't fix the problem, try creating a clone of the source mesh, and then running the shape plot on the clone. If that still doesn't work, then you're in the worst case scenario. If you get there, let us know. There remain other, proprietary solutions that can repair the situation.

My dearest Ladies and Chaps...
I'm trying to plot the shape of an object which is enveloped and has 8 volume deformers on top of the envelope operator in the animation stack. In addition to a Cluster Shape Combiner in the old Shape Modelling. Every time I plot the shape of this object the envelope and and shapes are plotted but not the volume deforms...
...I've also tried Point Oven and getting exactly the same result.
Has anyone got any ideas...anything! it's 11:15 at night and believe me it doesn't really get more urgent than this!
Thanks for your time Dan Hope
