Thank you very much, Joey.

Your Plugin works very well in 5.11. It´s saving me a lot
of time and will sure prove handy even more in the future,
not just for working around that bug but for any seperating
of (*.obj ) geometry that is occassionally required and desired.

Kind Regards,

tim

Tim,
Yes, try this. It was intended to do the same thing as the Maya
Seperate command. If I recall correctly it should also work on multiple
objects. I wrote it last year as my first attempt to learn XSI
scripting. I'm certian it should work under 5.x or 6.x but I haven't
tested it und 6.x yet. If it doesnt let me know.

Hi Joey,

yes, it´s the entire, identical geometry doubled just as you describe.
I´d welcome any tool or script you can point me to.

The current workaround is to break down the entire hierarchy
inside Maya 8.5 (ungroup/unparent) prior to exporting to XSI
as *.obj. This´ll result in correct *.obf file content/interpretation.

I´ve still to upgrade to Maya 8.5 on my machine here and also
haven´t transfered the current project to XSI 6.01 yet, so I can´t
test the Crosswalk plug-in - may as well be a good workaround.

Cheers

Tim,
Are you experiencing duplicate meshes within the same mesh? Like two spheres having been merged together? Would a tool to separate contiguous meshes help?

Hi guys,

thanks all for the suggestions.

I haven´t been able to delve more into the origins of the problem
today but have reasonable success with polygon island selections
or simply hitting [shift] [+] for getting to the bogus duplicate parts
of the imported model I´m refining.

I´ll gratefully jump on Kim´s suggestion (hierarchy of cubes+joints)
a´s soon as I´ve fiddled through my current, more pressing tasks.

Thanks again and sorry for the late reply,

Cheers

Or use the Polygon Island filter.

Just off the top of my head you could maybe select one poly and grow
the
selection. The selection should end where the double faces end ya? Then
just
hit delete.
