I did a lot of work scripting both Excel and Access quite some time ago; I
think the basic scripting will be fine in 2000 Excel - Jordi's example is
dated 2000. XML didn't appear, I think, until the 2007 release which is
about the size of a planet and a damned pain to use. For my money the
earlier versions should be fine.
MS documentation for Excel scripting is thorough but like most of its docs,
convoluted and not so easy to find your way around. I found out most of what
I know now by trolling around the internet for examples - Google is your
friend. It's a bit tough to start but as you start to get a feel for it it
becomes pretty good. You will find many of the examples are VBA, as opposed
to VBscript. There is a difference.
Probably most of what you want to do will be simply reading and writing cell
values. That should be pretty straightforward.
