Disk thrashing and CPU overload are known problems with ZA and have been for
two or three years now. The cpu thrashing comes about under certain
circumstances when the the virus scanner decides to run all by itself,
regardless of whether you've told it not to. Disk activity seems to be just
a part of this release, even if you turn all kinds of scanning off. It's
gone from being a fine little software firewall to a piece of useless crap
in just a couple of years. If you're lucky enough to have an early version
of ZA, keep it. Don't ever change it.
I'll give a couple of these things a go and see how they pan out.
Thanks everyone for the input.
