hair appearance; 5.xx and 6.xx

Subject : hair appearance; 5.xx and 6.xx

Has anyone noticed differences in the rendering of hair between 5 and 6? I'm
seeing a huge difference in a scene from a while back and I'm trying to work
out if it's the scene or mental ray/xsi.
