I'm not sure if this is still the case, but I remember in the "old"
days Maya plug-ins/scripts/etc. got a bronze, silver and gold status.
I'm not really sure how this was judged, but it could be something
alike for the XSI submissions. It's also easy this way to sift through several plugins, and those "must have" and stable will get a "gold" status. Other stuff will drop down to silver or bronze, being (somewhat) usefull but/or unstable etc. Also a central shader database in the Netview would be very welcome, being treated the same way. cheers, Rob Wuijster Condor Digital www.condor.tv Willemsparkweg 80 1071HL Amsterdam +31 (0) 20 6712600 (T) +31 (0) 20 6713766 (F) Kim Aldis wrote: --- Unsubscribe? If they really want to improve the use of netview then they should add submission into the plugin manager. So I can select the plugin, right click and select Package to NetView. Fill in a few details and it pulls all the required files up there. Viola - next to no work to make your tools available to the community. Cheers, Alan. Raise your hand if you've gone to a website only to find that a tool you wanted to use wasn't there anymore. It would be nice if more people would also send their tools to the SoftImage website. Netview is a great resource, but it seems underutilized. E --- Jennifer Goldfinch <jgoldfin(at)Softimage.COM> wrote:100 per cent duly noted. Well, for starters maybe there should be a checkbox on both of these job databases that automatically submits the info on the other job database as well so that everything is cross-posted by default. Otherwise, the database on Soft's site might as well just be a link to XSIBase so that the data would all live in one place. And for available jobs, maybe it makes sense to have some sort of standing listing of companies where people can send reels. I don't know about other companies, but for us, generally by the time we're ramping up for a job, we already need to have the pile of reels and the list of candidates on hand. So individual job posts sort of don't even make that much sense. And it's not like we currently have the problem of getting too many XSI reels in the mail... - Andy Jennifer Goldfinch wrote: |
