Whats really important with any new technology is the people involved,
and the people at RealD, the company highlighted in that article, are
very nice helpful and knowledgeable, we see Josh at least twice a week
for screenings. Lenny Liptons there too, the godfather of todays 3D
cinema. Recently the VES had a symposium on 2d 3d conversion hosted by
realD there, lots more 3D legends in attendance like Captain 3D.
There are just tons of events going on here around 3D cinema. As well
as the CG features, the live 3D work being done now soon in theatres
is really amazing. Directors like Cameron, Jackson, Lucas, Rodriguez,
Zemeckis, Eric Brevig, etc are all backing digital cinema and 3D.

So yeah Id say its seen as the 'future of cinema' right now, whether
fad or not its here to stay for a while and is something many of us
will have to work with.

Back OnT,
XSI has a built in Stereo output shader but I think its quite old and
only has a few controls (is missing toe in compensation etc). Much
more stereo rig dev has been done in Maya and even Houdini, but I
really like the use of passes in XSI to resolve stereo issues in XSI.
For conversion its all over the place in terms of apps or custom used.

Adam Farrell whom some of you know from the list, is back on board
with us, and will be looking at various real time and render stereo
solutions. Any suggestions or introductions to our groups here from
those of you that are working or have worked in stereo, appreciated.
