There are some issues with the Delta Reference (I assume you are using 6.01). The models will fall out of the partitions if they are referenced, and you can't copy/paste animation, there are other issues as well.

I would personally not use 6.01 until these things are fixed (they are working on them, but I don't know of any timetable for the patch). But once these things are fixed, the reference model system should be fantastic.

Stick with 5.11 if you can, in my opinion.

Hi,
I'm setting up some scenes to be as flexible as possible and would like to nest Referenced Models.
e.g. I have a master Referenced Model that holds a car and would like that Referenced Model car to have some Referenced Model tyres inside it which are Instanced four times (again within the Master model).
I'm trying to keep the Modelling and Render pipelines separate so I can create stand-in models that get updated when the modellers can get to them.
The nesting seems to work on a simple scene, but be a bit flakey when the scenes get a bit more complex. e.g. Models falling out of Partions.
Do we reckon that this is just a plain bad idea, or should they hold up these days?
The Referenced Models are using a Referenced Material Lib as well which also seems like a good idea.
Any early warnings about these setups are welcome.
Ta much,
Adam.
