Hi Frantisek,

You'll be fine using both and switching your farm before your
workstations is probably a better approach. Simply because you may
otherwise end up being able to render something on your workstations
that won't go through on the farm. You can imagine how much fun this
would be.....

Don't have any experience using windows mixed environment, but using
mixed platform here hasn't caused issues (though we have no XSI 64bit
on linux yet) and we've since switched to pure 64bit linux.

Your workgroup doesn't need to be split as XSI supports having
multiple architectures and platforms in a single workgroup. The wiki
has some info on this - can dig up a link if you like.

Cheers,

Alan.

Hello, I would like to hear about your experiences of running XSI in mixed
64 and 32bit enviroment. We are considering purchase of some new rendering
machines and we are currently looking for Dual Quads HP machines. But fear
is, that in under 32bit XP we would run into problems with memory
limitations of 32bit executables and we will not able to utilize their
power effectively. So we are considering to run 64 bit XSI on 64 bit XP. On
other hand we are not ready to do full studio switch to 64bit. Its big
problem to run both versions of XSI together rendering one job? I suppose
that we will have to keep Workgroups for both platforms separate? I would
really like to hear some comments.
