barn doors?

Anyone on the list a Maya expat?

I was just shown something in the lighting GUI called Barn Doors. Has there ever been any thought of integrating something similar into XSI? Seemed to be a neat trick?

Also was shown soft shadows rendered with out area lights on.....this is when you turn on the node under Raytrace Shadow Attributes. It's soft shadows much faster then Area lights and cleaner then default Shadow Maps....is this a Maya render shader port?

Not a Maya guy sorry for the weak explanation.
