thanks for the info. This saves me from hunting around all sorts of shops, trying to find sparebatteries for those dreaded saturday evening license server hickups. (Which, as you have enlightened me, wouldn´t likely be due to any sort of drained battery anyway...)

While the serial/COM dongle doesn´t have too many movable parts, both of the USB ones do have a roundish pill of about half an inch diameter that can be extracted, either by first removing the cap or simply by mistake.
Looks alot like a battery to me [...]
