making a hotkey out of select refernece edge / polygon (5.0)

Subject : making a hotkey out of select refernece edge / polygon (5.0)

Hi guys, I use the Ref/Edge or Polygon reference tool a lot, and when I try to make it a hot key…well I cant, I cant even use repeat last command on it, nor mmb on it…it also does not log to the script editor any any way.

So is there a way I can access it make it a hot key? Im using 5.0 for this project, but it seems 6.01 has the same functionality.
