Question is, of course, what would it take for them to bring it back again. Nothing’s changed too much and the user base has grown.

I totally second that. The web market *is* huge and growing evermore. XSI would really benefit from rendering vectors / flash content.

.... but the web market is quite huge and right now it's almost totally dominated by MAX. Even Maya incorporated a native vector renderer way back in v 4 or 4.5, I think. Seems a shame that plugins for XSI (not just the swift3d) had been developed way back and then just totally discarded  down the line.
