we think it's because you rarely render things
seperately, side by side, then comp them with nothing behind them in the 3d
render.....
just have to work around it......
it cropped up a few weeks ago, and i spent all day
trying to get a solution from rendering different multiplied/unmultiplied
etc

but back on thread, it does seem a bit of a mystery, is it lust the
edge thats of concern? have you tried straight alphas - render &
import? am sure it can't be MR issue, it would have cropped up by
now - just a matter of more logic is required, maybees.
