Dang.
Too late. I´ve just ordered Vista64 Business along with a
new mainboard, CPU and supersize RAM kit. Damn.
It´s only now that I realize I probably can´t simply "klonk"
the disembowled, frankensteined carcass of my old 32bit
box in to get some satellite rendering, e.g. mixing 64/32bit.
Won´t work, but I´m not even sure those remains plugged
together will work for themselves anyway...
Thanks for the tip with installing 32bit XSI on XP/Vista64,
that may work as a backup plan.
Cheers

I personally would avoid Vista for awhile still. Still seems a bit buggy
from what I've heard. I really don't see any advantage over WinXP other
than the slick interface and that warm fuzzy feeling you sometimes get from
knowing you have the most up to date gear. I'm running both XSI 5.11 and
6.02 on WinXP 64 with no problems. My only three gripes are:
1. Most good shaders are available for 64bit but there are a handful of
others that are not
2. No quicktime in 64bit. Not a huge deal but sometimes a pain when trying
to export a sequence in the FX tree as a quicktime or using the 64bit
flipbook. You can just run 32bit xsi for these needs though.
3. Adobe Acrobat and some printer drivers do not work. Good luck getting
Acrobat Pro running on Win64. It installs and runs but you will not be able
to export out as a pdf file in other apps like MS Word or Excel. You have
to install the CutePDF converter which creates pretty nice PDF files from
any app.

Hi there,
can some of you allready comment on
running XSI 5.11/6.02 on Vista64?
I don´t fancy getting Aero to run but
wonder about possible viewportglitches,
64bit shader shortages and in general running
a 64bit WS with shoddy 32bit satelites/slaves,
e.g. transfering myself progressively to 64bit?
