Doesn´t the default quicktime installer for windows xp/vista
work for you? I´m pretty sure I´ve watched *.mov files
encoded in H.264 on XP64 using the Quicktime Player.

The apple/quicktime page just lists these requirements:

° Pentium processor-base PC or compatible computer
° At least 128MB of RAM
° Windows XP Service Pack 2 or Vista

I must admit I never even tried installing Quicktime under XP64. I read everywhere that it did not work (and believed them...)

Does it install and work for 32 bit apps?
